Reporting to the CEO, the Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer (“CLO”) will oversee all legal matters for the health network and serve as the primary legal advisor to the CEO, the organization’s senior management team, the Board of Trustees and the hospitals. S/he will serve as a member of the senior leadership team, Secretary of the LVHN Board, and will lead and oversee the Legal, Compliance and Risk Management Affairs functions, including leading and overseeing the Deputy General Counsel of Litigation & Risk, Vice President Compliance and Vice President Internal Audit. The CLO will advise on major contracts and transactions, including mergers, acquisitions and business agreements; regulatory compliance; tax-exempt status; finance; litigation; research and intellectual property matters; health IT policy and systems; labor and employment issues; medical staff and patient care matters; and outside counsel management.

Minimum of 15 years of legal experience gained through a combination of major law firm and in-house experience as a General Counsel or senior managing in-house counsel at a hospital, health system or healthcare organization. Significant healthcare law experience is required, including in the areas of hospital/healthcare business operations; physician contracting; business transactions, including joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and financings; and healthcare regulatory and legal compliance, as is an excellent understanding of major federal laws, applicable state laws and related regulations that govern the provision of not-for-profit healthcare services. Experience representing hospitals or health system(s) and experience with managed care are strongly preferred.
