As one of the world’s most admired brands, Toyota is growing and leading the future of mobility through innovative, high-quality solutions designed to enhance lives and delight those we serve. We’re looking for diverse, talented team members who want to grow and challenge what's possible with us.
Who we’re looking for:
Toyota is currently undergoing a “once in a century” transformation from a car manufacturer into a mobility company. Toyota Connected North America (TC) was formed in 2017 as a key initiative of this transformation – and was created to infuse the power of big data and cloud intelligence into all aspects of the mobility experience. TC creates and enables technologies that delight, simplify and connect the lives of those who use our products, envisioning a better world through connected mobility.
The Global Strategy and Solutions team of Toyota Legal One (TL1) provides strategic counsel and advice to TC in all aspects of its business and technology ventures. Given the increased importance of TC in Toyota’s global mobility vision, for the first time ever TL1 is seeking an attorney to join the Global Strategy and Solutions team as Senior Counsel to be assigned to TC as its day-to-day legal support. This role will report to the General Counsel of TC and Vice President and Chief International Counsel of TL1 and will work and potentially lead projects and initiatives that enable Toyota’s mobility transformation.
The successful candidate will be part of an exciting and diverse team that works side-by-side with our clients to provide expert counsel and guidance on a wide variety of legal issues, including technology transactions related to next generation mobility services, big data, cloud computing, and other strategic technology transactions on a global scale. Moreover, this candidate will be embedded with Toyota Connected, a recently created startup focused on disrupting and re-inventing the connected car and mobility space.
What you’ll be doing:
Review, draft and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including hardware agreements, software, cloud and SaaS licenses, and sales agreements
Support the continuous improvement of standard legal processes and agreements as the company scales at a fast pace
Work closely with our business teams to effectively communicate relevant legal concepts clearly and efficiently as they develop new strategies and products
Advise our business teams about relevant issues, risks, complex agreement structures, approval processes, and company policies and procedures
Provide support to other legal and business teams in a fast paced and dynamic environment
What you bring:

Experience working in a law firm and/or in-house legal department
Team player with the ability to work autonomously
Strong track record of working with a wide range of commercial agreements with a technology, business development, and IP focus
Strong desire to proactively learn and work on emerging areas of the law involving mobility, autonomous driving, AI, ride/car-sharing, data connectivity and other advanced technology areas
