As part of the Legal Department, the Director of Pharmacy Compliance is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and technical expertise in the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of compliance issues related to pharmaceuticals, pharmacy practice, and pharmacy-related retail, wholesale, and mail-order operations. The Director of Pharmacy Compliance aides in maintaining compliance with a number of government agencies, acts, guidelines, and laws; facilitate, coordinate, or conduct investigations and audits to identify areas of risk and draft process improvement plans to address same; monitor and assess programs and processes to ensure compliance with applicable laws and best practices; assist pharmacy operations in establishing processes and procedures; oversee training; and conduct on-going compliance education.
What you'll do:
Compliance with new rules, regulations, and revisions, as set forth by the applicable federal, state, and local government agencies and industry standards
Coordinate with legal counsel to identify, monitor, analyze, and communicate regulatory changes
Assist pharmacy operations implementing appropriate business operations in response to regulatory changes related to pharmaceuticals, pharmacy practice, compounding, and pharmacy-related retail , wholesale, and mail-order operations
Lead collaboration with legal counsel, pharmacy operations, and pharmacy business to draft and update standard operating procedures
Track data and create reports to assist in the analysis of compliance issue patterns
Create and deliver education related to pharmaceuticals, pharmacy practice, compounding, and pharmacy-related retail, wholesale, and mail-order operations compliance
Collaborate with key leadership, other employees, and pharmacists to identify, research, investigate and resolve compliance issues related to pharmaceuticals, pharmacy practice, compounding, and pharmacy-related retail, wholesale, and mail-order operations
Oversee and document external regulatory investigations and audits related to pharmaceuticals, pharmacy practice, compounding, and pharmacy-related retail, wholesale, and mail-order operations
Work with Human Resources to investigate suspected employee misconduct related to pharmacy and wholesale operations and related matters and determine appropriate discipline for employees found to have committed compliance violations
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to operations and revenue cycle related to pharmaceuticals, pharmacy practice, and pharmacy-related retail, wholesale, and mail-order operations
Exceptional planning, problem-solving, and change management skills. Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities, including the ability to lead diverse work teams, including remote work teams.
Exceptional skills in personal diplomacy with demonstrated ability to handle sensitive communications with leadership, practitioners, management, legal counsel, and regulatory agencies
Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or similar products
What you'll need:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
CHC Certification
7+ years’ experience in Pharmacy compliance
10+ years progressively responsible experience within a Pharmacy-related health care environment
10+ years’ experience designing, developing, and implementing compliance programs
Travel required
Bonus:
Law Degree (strongly preferred)
5+ years’ experience managing remote teams
Pharmacy compounding experience
