As an Attorney for John Deere Financial located in Johnston, IA, you will provide research, legal counsel, recommendations, and alternatives for legal questions and issues in the General Practice Areas of consumer and commercial secured transactions and revolving credit, debt collection and related litigation, bankruptcy, banking, privacy, information security, and compliance management.
In addition, you will:
Draft and negotiate documents including opinions, contracts, notices, agreements, registrations, and licenses.
Manage all aspects of litigation and alternative dispute resolution with adverse parties to ensure favorable results are achieved.
Develop and execute training on legal matters to groups of various sizes to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with various General Practice Area legal requirements.
Stay current on emerging trends in the law in the General Practice Areas through continuing legal education, reading, professional conferences, and participating in professional associations.

What Skills You Need
4 or more years of experience in the General Practice Areas in either a corporate law department or private law practice
Knowledge of the law of the General Practice Areas with a broad knowledge of the U.S. credit industry and markets relative to the General Practice Areas.
Ability to assess and manage risk within the General Practice Areas.
Ability to anticipate the impact of legal issues and advice on a business and its operations.
Ability to anticipate potential legal and regulatory issues by watching trends in the law in the General Practice Areas and proactively evaluating proposed and enacted regulations and enacted legislation and their impact on a business.
Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
Effective writing skills, including grammatical usage, persuasive copy, and style.
Ability to travel domestically up to 25%

Education
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school
Licensed to practice law in Iowa or state of residence if working remotely
