Become a Senior Attorney at Southern California Edison (SCE) in the Commercial Transactions section of the Law Department and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll lead commercial contract negotiations, contract interpretation and management, and provide general advice and counsel to SCE’s Energy Procurement and Management and Supply Management organizations, as well as other organizational units at SCE, including Information Technology and Cybersecurity, Transmission and Distribution, and Customer Service. The successful candidate will handle or assist in a wide range of procurement and other contract negotiations for the company and will report to a Director/Managing Attorney.
You must be able to work independently, be attentive to detail, identify legal and business risks, draft contracts quickly and clearly, and confidently negotiate with contract parties. We also are seeking a candidate who has the ability to simultaneously manage a large variety of assignments, work quickly and effectively under pressure, and prioritize activities.

Reviewing, negotiating and drafting a wide variety of contracts including power purchase agreements, energy storage agreements, software licensing, software as a service, consulting, construction, general procurement and other agreements.
Advising internal client organizations regarding compliance with applicable regulations, laws and policies and identifying legal and business risks.
Interacting with SCE personnel in other departments and external third parties to be able to understand and advise on complex legal, technical, and sensitive issues.
Contributing to cross-functional or departmental projects and teams.
The Essentials
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Current member in good standing of the State Bar of California.
Nine years of experience practicing law. Your combined experience can be at a law firm, corporate in-house setting, or government authority.
The Preferred
Strong academic credentials.
Experience with contract analysis, drafting and negotiation, preferably with some experience with renewable power purchase agreements, energy storage agreements, project finance transactions and energy/finance industry master agreements (e.g., EEIs, NAESBs and ISDAs).
Experience interacting with non-lawyer, business and technical clients.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team including the ability to promote positive cooperation within the legal team, with other Company personnel, and with outside counsel.
