The Counsel, Real Estate will be counsel for ARA’s core fund and will work directly with senior management, the Asset Management team, the Deputy General Counsel, Real Estate, the Senior Counsel, Real Estate, and ARA’s General Counsel. This role is primarily responsible for drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, service contracts, and construction-related contracts, as well as office, industrial, mixed-use, and retail lease amendments and assignments and other leasing documents. The Counsel, Real Estate, will also advise the business on legal disputes and various other legal matters. As the firm is fast-paced, the Counsel, Real Estate will be exposed to and will need to juggle several different issues daily while interacting with various members of the Asset Management team. What You Will Do As Real Estate Counsel, you will: - Draft and negotiate office, industrial, mixed-use, and retail leases, amendments, assignments, consents, letters of intent, and other related leasing documents.
- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, service agreements, construction contracts, and other operational documents
- Draft and negotiate contracts relating to such matters as property management, leasing services, design and construction management, and other agreements.
- Be responsible for updating and maintaining the legal department’s forms library in conjunction with the Senior Counsel, Real Estate.
- Support the Deputy General Counsel, Real Estate and the Senior Counsel, Real Estate on other matters, as requested.

Your Background You have at least five years’ experience or more negotiating and drafting commercial contracts, service contracts, and lease amendments for office, industrial, mixed-use, and retail leases. You have Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and are a member (in good standing) of the California State Bar. A successful candidate is detail-oriented, especially when preparing marketing collateral, has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with diverse personalities, and can take critical feedback and make it actionable.
