The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the world's largest organization serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations, nonprofits and other private-sector organizations around the globe.
We are currently seeking a talented individual for the position in-house employment and labor attorney for UNS Energy Corporation and subsidiary companies. The position will handle both union and non-union labor and employment matters.
The successful candidate will provide advice and counsel to executives, management and various corporate client groups on all employment matters, including wage and hour compliance, termination, harassment, discrimination, and related employment policies and procedures. Provide training, investigate claims, manage and direct company’s responses to state and federal agencies on employment issues. Provide advice and counsel on matters involving labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, unfair labor practices and labor arbitrations. Provide advice and counsel regarding company compensation and benefit issues. Oversee outside counsel in employment, labor and compensation and benefit matters. May also oversee or assist with other litigation matters.
Knowledge and experience in employment issues including wage and hour compliance, EEO and ACRD matters, termination, sexual and other harassment, discrimination, investigations and related employment policies and procedures.
Strong knowledge of Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, and other federal and state employment laws is required.
Experience in OSHA and worker’s compensation, and litigation experience under federal and state employment laws preferred.
Knowledge and experience in traditional labor law, including NLRB proceedings, collective bargaining negotiations and arbitration proceedings preferred.
Knowledge and experience in employee compensation and benefits, including health and welfare plans and ERISA, a plus.
Superior academic record and excellent analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
Four to seven years of prior employment law experience, preferably with a law firm.
Ability to manage workload effectively, set priorities and deliver results on agreed upon timelines. Regular and predictable on-site attendance.
Licensed to practice law in the State of Arizona.
