Bed Bath & Beyond is seeking a highly motivated attorney to join our legal team and help fuel this transformation. The position is located at our corporate offices in Union, N.J. This attorney will ensure the company and its various business units follow all Federal, state and local laws and regulations applicable to the retail sale and safety of consumer goods and services in the United States and Canada.
Ensure business is in compliance with U.S and Canadian Federal, state/provincial and local regulations applicable to the retail sale and safety of consumer goods and services.
Draft contracts, settlements and regulatory filings related to product compliance and safety.
Interact and negotiate with Federal, state/provincial and local regulatory agencies.
Maintain and track laws and regulations.
Identify, evaluate and analyze issues and advise management concerning impact.
Develop and maintain policies and procedures with respect to these areas.
Champion internal regulatory compliance and assist with development and presentation of training for various business units with respect to U.S and Canadian retail product compliance and safety.
Undergraduate degree and a JD degree from an accredited top law school.
Admission to New Jersey Bar (or Admission to other state bar with NJ Limited License for In-House Counsel).
At least 5 years of in-house experience, preferably at retailer.
Extensive knowledge of U.S. and Canadian regulations relating to retail sale of consumer products and product safety specifically including CPSC and the FDA regulations.
Must have excellent negotiation, drafting, analytical and written communication skills.
Must be able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple matters in a timely manner.
Proven ability to present, explain and champion regulatory compliance in a clear and understandable manner.
