The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the world's largest organization serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations, nonprofits and other private-sector organizations around the globe.
The Director of Legal Management will lead the administrative operations of the Legal Department, working closely with the SPLC’s senior leadership team. The Director will report to the Chief Legal Officer and will be responsible for the following:
strategic planning and execution of all Legal Department operations
managing the operations of the Legal Department, including leading change management initiatives, in areas such as:
budget management
professional development
working on systems and practices to improve the performance, consistency, and efficiency of the Legal Department
adopting better systems to manage the specific functions of Legal Department
implementing policies, procedures, and systems in the Legal Department
designing policies, procedures, and systems in the Legal Department
The successful candidate will have a J.D. or other advanced degree and a minimum of 10-15 years of legal operations and significant management experience within the operational side of a large, matrixed legal department. The SPLC is looking for someone with the experience and ability to design and implement world class operational systems and practices resulting in a Legal Department with high morale and outsized impact and that is productive, uniform, and cost-effective. A demonstrated commitment to promoting justice and working with and in diverse communities and supervising an inclusive staff is required.

This position will sit inthe Montgomery, AL or Atlanta, GA office. This is a national search. Relocation assistance will be provided. Due to COVID-19, the SPLC’s offices are currently closed and staff is working remotely. If this position is filled while its offices remain closed, the new employee will work remotely until the offices reopen. The SPLC is not asking newly hired employees to relocate while the offices are closed.
