The United States Playing Card Company/Cartamundi has retained Major, Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for an Associate General Counsel – North America located in Erlanger, Kentucky (a Cincinnati suburb). For over 150 years, The United States Playing Card Company has been the leader in the production and distribution of premier playing cards and a creator of innovative family-friendly games. In late 2019, The United States Playing Card Company was acquired by Cartamundi. With this step, Cartamundi is accelerating the growth of their own brands business in playing cards, alongside their manufacturing excellence capabilities.
The Associate General Counsel – North America is responsible for supporting and managing the legal services provided to the Cartamundi North American global business division. This role will partner with a paralegal to provide support, guidance, and counseling to regional leadership and cross-functional internal business clients, as well as partner with business leaders throughout North America. The Associate General Counsel will report to the Group General Counsel located in Belgium and has a dotted-lined to the regional business leaders. This role will be based in Kentucky, but will be required to travel to other facilities of the group in Dallas (TX) and East Longmeadow (MA) to support the business.
The successful candidate will have at least ten (10) years of legal experience preferably gained in a law firm and as in-house counsel at a multinational company. The Associate General Counsel will have excellent training as a commercial lawyer, and also have experience handling intellectual property matters and managing litigation. In addition, the right candidate will have some exposure to mergers and acquisitions. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated leadership and management skills, strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record of effectively working in a company’s global environment. A combination of top tier law firm and in-house experience is a strongly preferred. In-house experience with a focus on commercial matters is a clear advantage. Experience in the consumer products space is a plus.
