Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Litigation Counsel, you will assist in actively managing all aspects of a busy litigation docket, including commercial, class action, tort, non-compete and trade secrets cases. What you’ll do on a typical day:
Actively manage all aspects of litigation and pre-litigation matters in an efficient, practical and cost-effective manner
Collaborate with colleagues to articulate risks and benefits of legal strategy to achieve company objectives
Participate in creating processes and procedures that promote risk avoidance and mitigation
Assist in developing and continuously improving various internal processes relating to outside counsel and legal vendor management
Prepare regular and ad hoc status reports for management
What you need to succeed at XPO:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
JD from a nationally recognized law school
7 years of broad, complex commercial litigation experience in a law firm, corporate law department or a combination thereof
Licensed to practice law in at least one state and able to qualify as Authorized House Counsel in Connecticut, as necessary
It’d be great if you also have:
8+ years of broad, complex commercial litigation experience in a law firm, corporate law department or a combination thereof
Experience with non-compete and trade secrets litigation
A combination of sophisticated law firm and in-house experience
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, work independently and drive matters to swift, favorable outcomes
Demonstrated supervisory and management skills with the ability to oversee projects delegated to in-house legal staff and outside counsel
Experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Word)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
