The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the world's largest organization serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations, nonprofits and other private-sector organizations around the globe.
Also referred to as the Town Attorney and Corporation Counsel, serves at the pleasure of Town Council and is responsible to Town Council. Provides legal opinions and serves as a legal advisor to Town Council and the Town Administrator. Represents the Town in civil actions initiated by the Town or in those actions initiated against the Town. Attends all Town Council meetings and serves as parliamentarian.
Performs legal research, interprets laws and rulings, and provides analysis and fact gathering related to various issues to provide legal advice and direction to Town Council and the Town Administrator. Informs Town Council, the Town Administrator, and various department officials of new and pertinent legislation that could affect the governmental or administrative process. Manages the Legal Department.
Doctoral Degree (JD) and five (5) years’ demonstrated experience in municipal law.
Must be a member in good standing of the State of South Carolina Bar Association and licensed to practice law by the South Carolina Supreme Court.
