Major, Lindsey & Africa has been retained on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for a Deputy General Counsel for our client, City of Hope to be located near Los Angeles, in Duarte, California.
Founded in 1913 and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of people with cancer, diabetes and other serious illnesses, City of Hope is one of only 50 comprehensive cancer centers in the nation, as designated by the National Cancer Institute.
Reporting directly to the Chief Deputy General Counsel, the Deputy General Counsel’s responsibilities will include providing legal advice and support regarding a variety of matters, including, without limitation, matters related to reimbursement and payment for healthcare services, clinical research, sponsored research, philanthropy and fundraising, legal/regulatory and compliance, including fraud and abuse, anti-kickback and physician self-referral (Stark law).
The successful candidate must have 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in the matters listed above and be a team-oriented attorney, capable of working autonomously and interfacing with a wide range of legal and non-legal personnel. In addition, top academic and law firm experience is required. Local candidates preferred strongly.
