About the Group:
The Claims and General Litigation Section is primarily responsible for the prosecution and defense of various types of civil actions, such as cases seeking damages for personal injury, wrongful death, and property damage. In addition to handling their own matters, this Section’s attorneys closely manage outside counsel in the foregoing types of cases, and often provide pre-litigation advice to SCE’s operating units. This Section also advises on CPUC enforcement proceedings.
About the Job:
As part of the legal organization at SCE, the Legal Administrative Assistant, Senior Support role will provide senior-level administrative and legal secretarial support for two to four attorneys in the Claims Litigation section. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in all aspects of civil litigation.

A day in the life:
Duties include heavy typing, editing and formatting of medium to high volume documents, such as preparing litigation filings, briefs, pleadings, Table of Authorities, Table of Contents, discovery, production, jury instructions, trial documents and finalizing for transmitting to the courts, commissions, or other governmental agencies.
Maintains calendars and oversees docket; scheduling meetings, travel, depositions, and court appearances; maintaining confidential files and preparing expense reports.
Determines the appropriate handling of confidential and sensitive information when the attorney is not available.
Provides information and recommendations which could influence decision having moderate corporate and departmental impact.
Makes adjustment to schedules as deemed appropriate.
A combination of formal education, training and experience to gain knowledge, skills, and abilities generally equivalent to those possessed by a high school graduate.
Five (5) years or more experience as a legal secretary performing advanced legal administrative and secretarial functions for a private law firm or corporate legal department.
Three (3) years or more experience in Litigation dealing with current federal and state court rules and knowledge of court rules.
High School graduate
Legal Secretary Certificate and/or post high school education preferred.
Experience using Microsoft Office including SharePoint, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Excel, Skype for Business and other related technology systems.
Experience with TeamConnect Legal (matter management system), CompuLaw (calendaring system), E-Filings and CourtCall (Telephonic Court Appearance).
