Our client, a Bay Area-based technology company, is seeking an experienced IP lawyer to join their team in a new role, supporting their Office of Chief Technology Officer.
You will have primary responsibility for supporting the development activities for the company’s CTO organization, as well as interacting with and advising the CTO leadership team. We are seeking an energetic team player able to provide counsel on emerging IP issues, processes and strategic planning for an organization that is actively seeking growth opportunities.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
-Provide business and IP/legal advice to a technology focused organization seeking significant growth opportunities -Analyze IP landscapes, perform IP risk assessments and develop IP sustainability strategies -Actively develop and manage a patent portfolio to protect key differentiating aspects of company’s technologies -Review, draft and negotiate a broad range of IP related agreements, including non-disclosure agreements, joint development agreements, sponsored research agreements and government funding agreements -Advise and counsel CTO organization on various IP matters involving patents, trade secrets, copyrights and trademarks -Contribute to the development of business processes and policies to better enable achievement of CTO objectives, mitigate risk, reduce inefficiencies and improve effectiveness
Candidates must have the following qualifications in order to be considered: -Seven to fifteen years of broad based legal experience with a major law firm or multinational company in the following areas: IP landscapes, IP risk assessments and IP sustainability strategies, especially for start-up or growth mode companies; Patent portfolio development and management; Agreements involving IP provisions, including JDAs and research agreements; Licensing; M&A transactions and Commercial transactions - Undergraduate degree in either Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science
Additional Salary Information: A strong compensation package, including equity, will be offered.
