The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the world's largest organization serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations, nonprofits and other private-sector organizations around the globe.
Our client, one of the world's leading healthcare companies, is seeking a Senior Patent Counsel to be based in the Bay Area. This position will provide support across all business sectors, in conjunction with the company’s initiative in Health and Technology.
Responsibilities for this role will include the following:
-Provide a full range of patent support functions, including patent preparation and prosecution freedom-to-operate studies (e.g., infringement and validity analysis), and particularly, client counseling
-Draft and negotiate license and research collaboration agreements
-Provide due diligence support for business development activities
-Support global IP litigation
-Make regular presentations and interact with the business about patents, other intellectual property, contracts, and due diligence matters.
Candidates must have the following qualifications in order to be considered:
-An undergraduate or advanced degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Systems Engineering is preferred
-Law degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice before the USPTO
-Six to fifteen years of law firm or corporate law department experience is required
-Broad-based patent preparation and prosecution experience, as well as experience in the rendering of patentability and non-infringement opinions and license/agreement drafting -Demonstrated competency in the computer or electromechanical arts and combination technology systems as well as dealing with big data and data analytics.
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
Additional Salary Information: A strong compensation package, including equity, will be offered.
