As a Plexus attorney, you will provide legal counsel and strategic advice on issues associated with complex commercial transactions, areas of compliance and general corporate law matters, while acting as a valued business partner guiding business strategy. In addition to strong legal and analytical skills, our attorneys must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and interface with a broad range of senior business managers, executives, and other colleagues and professionals. You will be a key member of the Plexus’ global legal team, reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, and working out of the global headquarters in Neenah, Wisconsin.
HOW YOU’LL DO IT
Key Job Accountabilities:
Draft, negotiate and strategically close a broad array of complex commercial deals with customers ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 customers operating in highly regulated markets. Develop and apply knowledge of Plexus’ business strategy to support resolution of contract issues in a timely manner and with an appropriate balance of risk and reward. Manage commercial claims and litigation, and resolve disputes with customers and suppliers efficiently and collaboratively while protecting Plexus’ financial and business interests.
Provide support, advice and counsel to the Company on various compliance matters as assigned, which may include government contracting, ethics, finance-related compliance, FDA compliance, and privacy.
Provide support, advice and counsel to the Company on various corporate matters as assigned, which may include treasury/finance, IT, corporate development, risk management, insurance, and real estate.
Act as a driver of positive change within the organization, focused on continuous improvement, LEAN practices and initiating collaborative problem-solving across functions and regions.
Provide an outstanding customer experience to internal and external customers by providing effective guidance and solutions, listening, delivering on commitments, seeking opportunities to learn and teach, and being respectful and passionate.
Develop, assist, evaluate and otherwise manage direct and matrix reports as assigned.
Accountable to execute on Plexus’ Best People strategy, leaders will focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning and ensuring that their employees receive the development and coaching required to realize their full potential.
Interpret applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, including jurisdictions outside of the United States, as necessary to provide legal advice to the Company.
Escalate matters to senior management as appropriate.
Conduct legal research.
Manage outside counsel.
Occasional travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (estimated 5-10%).
WHAT WE VALUE
A minimum of a Juris Doctorate of Masters of Law is required.
Must be a licensed attorney admitted to practice and in good standing under state law.
At least two (2) years of law firm or related in-house experience is required; experience working in business transactions is preferred; Litigation experience will be considered.
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Intermediate computer skills.
Able to prioritize and manage considerable workload and special projects with limited supervision.
Strong organization and project management skills.
Able to influence and work within all levels of the Company.
Strong work ethic and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
Demonstrates a business-minded, risk-intelligent and problem-solving approach to practicing law.
Maintains a professional appearance and a positive company image both internally and externally.
