Educators is seeking a seasoned corporate attorney with strong academic and professional credentials to be responsible for all legal matters affecting the organization. The ideal candidate will be capable of decision making in a highly regulated industry, often times with limited information and condensed timelines. This position will have significant visibility to the Executive Team.
Ideal candidates will have:
5 to 10 years of legal experience.
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and in good standing with at least one State Bar and the ability to obtain admittance into Wisconsin Bar within 6 months of hire.
Prior experience in banking law, finance, and compliance; consumer & mortgage lending, regulatory statuses/proceedings and compliance; general contract drafting and various types of commercial transactions and financings.
Strong negotiation skills.
The ability to analyze, assess and create solutions to mitigate legal and regulatory risk.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Handle all legal matters affecting the organization.
Provide legal counsel and subject matter expert advice, prepare and review legal contracts and documents, provide legal oversight for regulatory compliance, ensure federal and state requirements are met, and advise on regulatory changes.
Advise the Executive Team on corporate governance issues and legal, legislative, litigation and regulatory matters pertinent to the organization.
Management of legal work for delinquent loans, bankruptcy documents, and small claims paperwork and represent Educators Credit Union in court for repossessions, judgements and foreclosures.
