The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the world's largest organization serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations, nonprofits and other private-sector organizations around the globe.
As a member of the OGC Legal Services “Research, Intellectual Property and Life Sciences” team within OGC Legal Services, the Senior Counsel is responsible for drafting, negotiating and interpreting a wide variety of clinical trial agreements, data-driven research agreements, vendor agreements and other research collaboration agreements. The Senior Counsel should have substantial expertise in research related laws, including those pertaining to drug and device development, human subjects protection, and federal regulations governing research. The Senior Counsel should also have significant experience with US and International ethical standards and conventions that govern the conduct of research studies and familiarity with federal regulations covering research and development involving mobile applications and other technology. Familiarity with federal and state health information privacy laws is preferred.
Education • Doctorate Juris Doctorate - Law Required
Licensures and Certifications • Attorney - ATT-JD Licenses as an attorney with the California State Bar Preferred • Licensed as an attorney with a United States Bar Association and qualified to be registered as “Registered In House Counsel” with the State Bar of California.
Experience •Must register with the California Bar within 30 days of Employment Preferred • Must have demonstrated at least 6 years of significant legal experience in a particular area of law (“Area of Law Expert” or “Area of Law Expertise”), including, primary and independent responsibility interacting with clients in significant transactions. Required • Significant experience in litigation and/or dispute resolution for cases/transactions in a particular Area of Law Expertise. Required

The Senior Counsel is responsible for proactively promulgating policies and otherwise advancing practices that reduce legal risk in their specific area of law expertise. The position will be expected to develop legal tools and provide direction to internal and external partners to assist them in efficiently and effectively operationalizing legal advice primarily within the area of information technology. The Senior Counsel will also serve as a functional and/or direct supervisor of Counsel, Paralegal, Legal Secretary or other positions as appropriate.
