The AGC-Privacy and Security role will support the Company by providing legal advice related to privacy and security matters as well as general health law matters. Responsibilities include providing legal support, advice and education in the areas of privacy and security to diverse teams across the Company as well as responding to governmental investigations and handling litigation and insurance issues. The successful candidate will be a motivated, business-oriented legal professional who is customer-focused and can successfully interact with the Company's Chief Privacy & Security Officer and team, IT teams, risk managers, electronic health record governance and Company leadership and who is well-versed in privacy and security law, general health law and the healthcare industry.
A Juris Doctor is required for this role.
Must have passed a state bar and California is preferred.
Must have demonstrated at least 6 years practicing law in the healthcare industry and/or in the area of privacy and security law. Must have a comprehensive understanding of privacy and security law. Litigation experience preferred. Knowledge and experience working with statutes and regulations governing California law preferred. Must have the ability to translate complex legal principles into practical and proactive legal advice.

The Senior Counsel is responsible for proactively promulgating policies and otherwise advancing practices that reduce legal risk in their specific area of law expertise. The position will be expected to develop legal tools and provide direction to internal and external partners to assist them in efficiently and effectively operationalizing legal advice primarily within the area of information technology. The Senior Counsel will also serve as a functional and/or direct supervisor of Counsel, Paralegal, Legal Secretary or other positions as appropriate.
