Olam US is looking for an attorney with 3+ years of commercial contracts and corporate law experience, to play a key role in a fairly new legal department in an extremely dynamic and ever-growing organization. This position will report to the Vice President of Legal (HQ/Fresno, California) and will manage and drive strategic initiatives in the U.S. and abroad while ensuring the legality of processes and procedures.
The ideal candidate should be positive, energetic, and eager to learn about the company, industry and the regulatory environment. Furthermore, he/she should be a gifted lawyer, who understands business issues, as well as legal ones, and is looking to make significant contributions to the development of Olam’s U.S. Legal group.

In the U.S., Olam began operations in 2002 and has grown, both organically and through acquisitions, to manage a wide range of agricultural products across 13 states. Our operations include farming and origination, food processing and logistics management from the ground to the door of our many customers worldwide.
Draft, review and negotiate, alongside business personnel, under swift time constraints, a variety of contracts with vendors, customers and other third parties (examples include, NDAs, Supply Agreements, MSAs, Consulting Agreements, Software License Agreements, POs. Lease Agreements, etc.) to assist the business and operations teams with understanding of the meaning and implication of such documents to the business
Create, update and improve contract templates, playbooks and other forms used by the organization
Mentor Junior Attorney and work on cross-functional projects within the legal department
Support business leadership, as well as other members of the U.S. Legal group, by researching and analyzing complex legal issues and providing advice that ensures compliance with rules and regulations
Assist in the development of policies and practices based on federal, state and local legal requirements
Stay current on legal and regulatory issues affecting the company and the industry
Collaborate on various legal, business, and administrative functions as needed
Assist with the managing of outside legal counsels, as needed
Consistently exercise sound judgment related to the allocation of risk and suggested alternatives;
Handle, prepare and review documents related to corporate law matters, M&A deals, real estate transactions, (pre-) litigation, arbitration, and mediation, privacy, among other business legal matters
The candidate will be considered a valued business partner to the business and operations teams and contribute significantly in their growth by providing counsel on issues that impact their bottom line and providing internal training on the latest developments in the law.

Excellent research, drafting, negotiation and communication (both oral and written) skills;
Ethical conduct, integrity, worth ethic and sense of honor;
Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills;
Robust knowledge of contractual law, principles and best practices; and
Keen attention to detail is a must.
Education & Qualifications:
Must have at least 3 full years of contracts and corporate law experience is required
Must have a J.D. and be fully licensed, in good standing, to practice law in the particular jurisdiction
Experience providing guidance for food or agricultural companies is preferred, but not mandatory
Excellent academic and professional background
Knowledge of federal, state and local laws
Ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations
Strong computer skills
