The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the world's largest organization serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations, nonprofits and other private-sector organizations around the globe.
Lumeris is seeking an experienced health care contracting Counsel to bring a depth of knowledge with regard to third party transactions, customer contracting, population health management and health care law. A qualified candidate would be able to demonstrate knowledge in various health care lines of business, including Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial, as well as a solid understanding of the various health care laws impacting transactions between health care industry players. The qualified candidate must possess an ability to develop detailed understanding of complex business operations and inter-dependencies in a fast-paced environment.
Role and Responsibilities
Prepare and review vendor and customer arrangements
Advise internal business clients on strategies to address client needs
Develop, maintain and monitor procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations
Conduct and coordinate research into a variety of issues
Analyze complex transactions between Lumeris and third parties
Provide day-to-day legal counseling on operational and transactional matters
Negotiate miscellaneous contracts between Lumeris and clients
Work with other internal legal counsel in analyzing complex transactions and to identify legal issues with cross-divisional impact
Provide legal advice on the full spectrum of plan, hospital, and provider contracting issues across the enterprise, with special emphasis on risk contracting
Drive the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes
Perform multiple time-sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment
Develop and ensure compliance with Lumeris’ internal contract review process
Perform other duties as assigned
Experience, Qualifications, and Education
At least 5 years of experience in corporate health care transactions in a law firm or in-house setting, as well as a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
Admission or eligibility to be admitted to the Missouri Bar
Solid understanding of issues facing health care transactions
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders
Excellent time management and leadership skills
Strong Communication skills and the capability to communicate effectively through all levels of the organization
Ability to remain flexible in a fast paced, growth environment
Corporate counsel experience beneficial
