Senior Healthcare Compliance Specialist
We are currently seeking a Senior Healthcare Compliance Specialist to work alongside a dynamic leadership team in our Americas headquarters in the Atlanta metro area. Working within the Legal, Risk and Compliance function, this individual will take responsibility for the healthcare compliance programs by directing compliance initiatives and managing the implementation and adoption of updated processes across the organization. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience with a medical devices or pharmaceutical company providing services in a fast paced, complex organizational structure. Must have an engaged, roll-up-your-sleeves approach, with the ability to work closely with internal clients to ensure regulatory compliance while business needs are met.
Draft and implement healthcare and compliance-related policies
Collaborate with colleagues, providing strategic guidance on commercial programs, initiatives and processes that have healthcare compliance-related implications (including sales processes, business and marketing plans, field incentive compensation programs, and customer engagement plans) to facilitate compliant growth
Assess compliance-related educational needs and develop, implement, maintain and oversee training programs for compliance and privacy issues for the organization, including, for example, new employee orientation, annual online training, department-specific, and partner training
Work with stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting of spend related to health care professionals in compliance with U.S., state, and other country-specific transparency and “Sunshine” laws
Oversee and monitor ongoing privacy and data protection compliance activities and provide guidance on HIPAA requirements. Work with Data Protection Officer and other departments to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
Identify potential problems, support risk assessments and audits, and develop work plans to monitor and address identified risks
Conduct and manage investigations into allegations of non-compliance and/or ethical policy deviations as necessary and advise on appropriate corrective action plans
Assist with other departmental projects and tasks, as required
Primarily a US-focused role, but may expand to international
We are looking for a Barco employee who
Bachelor’s degree, with 3-8 years of experience in a compliance or legal function in the medical device or pharmaceutical industries
Strong business acumen and ability to navigate effectively in a dynamic and matrixed international organization
Knowledge of laws (Federal and State Anti-kickback Statutes, Sunshine transparency reporting laws, False Claims Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act), regulations, industry guidance and best practices regarding compliant sales, marketing, and reporting activities
Knowledge of global privacy and data protection laws, including U.S. state, Federal, HIPAA, and GDPR
Ethical, with a strong understanding of compliance risks - and able to stand one’s ground where necessary - yet flexible and able to readily identify practical solutions
Excellent organizational and project management skills, highly analytical with attention to detail and accuracy
Communicate clearly, concisely and effectively; experience in business presentations
Proactive, responsive, and able to work independently
Able to exercise discretion and confidentiality in a consistent and professional manner
Must be willing to travel, also internationally, up to 20%
