The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the world's largest organization serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations, nonprofits and other private-sector organizations around the globe.
Advise the business on regulatory matters associated with its consumer lending activities in the United States;
Assess and communicate changes in laws and regulations and work with colleagues and clients to implement changes;
Provide corporate governance support, which may include attending board meetings, preparing minutes and resolutions, and otherwise assisting the GC with corporate matters;
Negotiate, draft and manage a variety of commercial contracts, including vendor, (procurement/sales/services), debt sale, software license and non-disclosure agreements;
Render crisp, pragmatic legal advice on business matters, in a fast-paced environment; and
Work directly with business clients to identify practical solutions to complex challenges.
Familiarity with consumer lending and collections laws and regulations is highly desirable (facility with ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, GLBA, SCRA, TILA);
Corporate governance experience;
Experience drafting, negotiating and managing a wide variety of commercial contracts, including vendor, procurement, software license and non-disclosure agreements;
At least 5 years of relevant experience at a top law firm or in-house legal department, and exceptional academic credentials;
Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues at all levels;
Ability to work on-site in Austin, Texas and active membership with the Texas State Bar; and
JD Degree from ABA-accredited law school.
