Fortune 500 financial services company located in New York City seeks an experienced ISDA Negotiator to be part of a multi-faceted Unclear Margin Rule (UMR) implementation team. This is a long-term, consulting opportunity expected to last at least six months (probably longer) with a competitive hourly rate.
A smart, savvy derivatives professional is needed on an immediate basis to draft, review and negotiate ISDA and ancillary documents for institutional clients of the Equity and Prime Brokerage Divisions. The role involves collaborating with various areas of the firm, outside counsel, external clients, and offshore resources to implement Phase V of the UMR. Duties include preparing, updating and negotiating all CSAs to bring in line with EMIR requirements; reviewing and revising collateral for compliance with risk limitations; and reviewing custodial arrangements.
Identifying necessary documentation for the clients to trade securities or OTC derivatives and perform related due diligence scans in compliance with Phase IV
Drafting and negotiating legal documentation (included master agreements, amendments and ancillary documents such as ISDA, MRA, DF related documents, CDEA, ACAs etc.)
Handling client negotiations and any related projects to ensure timely execution and completion
Liaising with internal stakeholders
Liaising with offshore resources
Understanding and adhering to established procedures
Communicating with clients and external counsel
Supervising the work of junior colleagues
Law Degree is preferred
Experience with UMR Phase 1 – 4 implementation is a huge plus
5+ years’ experience at a law firm or financial industry experience in contract negotiation is required; preferably employed by or seconded to a bank in a documentation /business support role
Demonstrable experience in having negotiated ISDA or MRA legal documents
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
Project management skills: highly organized, detail-oriented and thorough
Ability to cope with pressure and multi-task
Ability to plan, organize and deliver results within tight time frames
Ability to work collaboratively on group projects and independently on individual assignments
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Mature and professional
Comfortable working in an open floor working environment
