Essential Job Functions
Structure, draft and negotiate agreements in support of the Company’s new business initiatives and strategic transactions including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and collaboration agreements.
Conduct legal analysis of the application of applicable privacy laws (state, federal and international – e.g, CCPA, GDPR) and regulations as applied to the company's business lines and subsidiaries and identifies related compliance issues.
Develop, support and manage the Company’s Data Privacy Program, including corporate policies, operational controls and business processes to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company philosophy.
Assist in driving cross-functional organizational education of privacy awareness and proactive risk identification and assessment related to privacy as well as other enterprise-wide risk.
Consult with other members of Petco’s Legal Department as well as outside counsel as necessary in providing solutions to the challenges faced by various Petco business groups.
Assist the Legal Department efforts in the creation, implementation and refinement of forms, policies and procedures and provide substantive support for the rest of the Legal Department on an as-needed basis.
J.D. from an ABA accredited law school with exceptional academic credentials and a member of a state bar in good standing
At least 8-10 years of relevant experience, including both in an in-house capacity as well as at a nationally reputable law firm as a transactional attorney.
Experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnership and strategic collaboration agreements.
2+ years of prior data privacy experience.
