Support several lawyers in the Legal Department in all aspects of organization and administration.
Prepare basic agreements and administer organizational processes for efficient delivery of Department work product.
Compose and/or prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and other documents ensuring proper format, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Schedule and arrange internal and external meetings and appointments.
Work with external counsel in coordination with lawyers in Department.
Receive, read, and handle daily e-mail requests, paying special attention to items requiring immediate attention.
Answer incoming calls, screen calls, answer questions, refer callers to appropriate associate, or take messages.
Provide support to upper level executive, including interaction with clients; assist clients via telephone or in person.
Meet regularly with lawyers to receive and provide updates on work assignments.
Coordinate meetings; arrange for catering.
Arrange all phases of travel, as well as maintaining records and itineraries.
Responsible for all expense report-related activities, such as receipt, collection and follow up, preparation and submission of expense reports.
Serve as a role model to other associates with respect to positive attitude, performance, and leadership.
Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
A minimum of five years’ Paralegal or Legal Secretary experience.
Above-average proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Above-average proficiency with matter management systems, legal billing systems, legal hold systems and legal filing.
Experience with drafting legal documents and correspondence, either utilizing forms or originating the document.
Strong internal and external customer service skills, along with the ability to develop sound relationships.
Experience supporting numerous legal professionals at one time.
Organization and time management skills to prioritize workload and meet time sensitive deadlines.
Ability to work under pressure and under time constraints.
Results oriented with the ability to change priorities as needed.
Above-average verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to interact with associates at all levels of responsibility, representing Lockton in the highest professional manner.
Demonstrated ability to protect confidential information along with precise and careful handling of critically sensitive and confidential documents.
Proven ability to work independently along with a strong ability to use good judgment in recognizing scope of authority and urgency.
Strong attention to detail.
