The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the world's largest organization serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations, nonprofits and other private-sector organizations around the globe.
The part-time position of Counsel of Legal & Business Affairs will be involved in legal matters related to a broad range of contracts as well as data privacy, intellectual property, corporate matters and other legal matters.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides legal services to all departments across the enterprise.
Advises company officers on legal matters related to company operations.
Reviews, negotiates and drafts various contracts and other legal documents related to programming (production services agreements, talent agreements, content licenses, distribution agreements, etc.).
Assists with reviewing and drafting agreements related to real estate development and leasing.
Provides legal advice and services involving intellectual property issues (including but not limited to copyright, trademark, and related matters).
Acts as internal subject matter expert and advisor to business units on privacy laws and data protection issues.
Coordinates with outside counsel on litigation matters.
Assesses risks posed by various transactions and counsels company employees accordingly.
Other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Managing Attorney of Legal & Business Affairs.
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited US law school and admitted to practice law in either North Carolina or South Carolina.
5+ years experience after degree
Excellent judgment and discretion, especially regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Superior written and oral communication skills.
Ability to prioritize workload and work independently with minimal supervision.
Passionate and excited about learning new subject matters and areas of law.
Willing to work on a part-time basis (no more than 29 hours per week).
