Legal Counsel – Privacy, Data Security & Digital Marketing
Nestlé USA, Inc., a leading food and beverage company, is seeking a business-savvy lawyer with deep experience in the areas of privacy, data security, and digital marketing to support Nestlé USA’s food and beverage businesses. E-commerce, advertising, and promotions experience a plus. Ideal candidates will have the ability to resolve issues and excel at delivering high quality, impactful, and timely legal advice.
This position will be located in Nestlé USA’s new Arlington, Virginia headquarters.
As subject matter authority regarding privacy, data security, digital marketing, and advertising, this person will be responsible for:
Advising on day-to-day privacy and data security issues including serving on Nestlé’s cross-functional privacy and data security team
Ensuring that our digital assets align with applicable laws and Nestle policies governing privacy, as well as monitoring developments in this constantly evolving area of the law
Overseeing data security procedures and supporting the business during incident response actions
Monitoring and sharing legal developments in digital media and advertising across the organization
Serving as primary point of contact for the e-commerce business unit
Providing ongoing training to our IT/IS and marketing communities on pertinent topics
Drafting and negotiating agreements with third parties related to e-commerce, advertising, and promotions including on privacy and data security provisions
Serving as subject matter authority for our Division Counsel and our team of four paralegals responsible for advertising and promotions review
Working in partnership with divisions to identify, develop, and share standard methodologies
Other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned
JD from accredited law school
Current membership in the Virginia State Bar or the ability to become Registered In House Counsel in Virginia
Strong background in legal representation of businesses on privacy, data security and digital advertising
Strong understanding of the digital advertising ecosystem and advertising technology
Minimum of 7 years of experience preferred
Experience as a privacy, data security, and digital marketing/advertising attorney
Experience working closely and collaboratively with IT/IS and marketing professionals
Business-savvy attorney who works to find solutions to complex challenges
Proven ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines
Demonstrated ability to gain trust at and work with all levels of an organization
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including communicating complex issues and concepts to non-lawyers
Proven track record to collaborate with multiple partners and team members
Excellent project management skills
Detail-oriented, possess strong ability achieve results, and have outstanding initiative
