The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the world's largest organization serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations, nonprofits and other private-sector organizations around the globe.
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is one of the preeminent organizations in the United States dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. SPLC works toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality. For more than four decades, SPLC has won landmark cases that brought systemic reforms — toppling remnants of Jim Crow segregation and destroying violent white supremacist groups; shattering barriers to equality for people of color, women, vulnerable children, the LGBT community, and the disabled; protecting migrant workers from abuse; ensuring the humane treatment of prisoners; reforming juvenile justice practices; and more. To achieve its goals, SPLC employs a variety of strategies, including litigation, legislative and media advocacy, research, and community education and mobilization. The Managing Attorney (1) directs and supervises the workflow, docket and staff attorneys in the IJP systemic litigation and advocacy practice; (2) oversees internal management of the IJP systemic litigation and advocacy practice; (3) develops systems and standards of practice for the IJP systemic unit and provides supervision and other support to other supervising staff and (4) serves as a key leader of the Legal Department. This position reports directly to the Deputy Legal Director. The Position is located in Decatur, Georgia, in the Atlanta metro region but this is a national search. The successful candidate will have a J.D, at least eight years of federal court litigation or comparable legal experience, and proven managerial experience of legal staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, discipline, and mentoring.
