To achieve its goals, SPLC employs a variety of strategies, including litigation, legislative and media advocacy, research, and community education and mobilization. The Managing Attorney (1) directs and supervises the workflow, docket and staff attorneys in the IJP systemic litigation and advocacy practice; (2) oversees internal management of the IJP systemic litigation and advocacy practice; (3) develops systems and standards of practice for the IJP systemic unit and provides supervision and other support to other supervising staff and (4) serves as a key leader of the Legal Department. This position reports directly to the Deputy Legal Director. The Position is located in Decatur, Georgia, in the Atlanta metro region but this is a national search. The successful candidate will have a J.D, at least eight years of federal court litigation or comparable legal experience, and proven managerial experience of legal staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, discipline, and mentoring.
