ROLE SUMMARY: Altus Partners, Inc. seeks a Claims Counsel who will report to the General Counsel, serving as a trusted adviser to internal client service teams, and an advocate on behalf of Altus Corporate Risk clients.
The Claims Counsel’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, identifying and resolving claims issues, providing accurate and timely claims assessments to clients and commercial account teams, and advocating on behalf of client accounts. Specifically, responsibilities include analyzing coverage positions, participating in periodic claim reviews, monitoring third-party administrators’ claims handling, and reporting claims with complex coverage issues. Claims Counsel will be expected to develop and foster relationships with clients and insurance adjusters. Claims Counsel may from time to time assist Altus’ growth efforts by participating in new business meetings and contributing to proposal responses. Finally, Claims Counsel will work closely with the Claims Analyst position to ensure Altus’ reporting and claim file handling adheres to our strict reporting and communication protocols and timelines.

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
Certificates, License Required: Active member of PA Bar and ability to obtain PA P&C insurance producer license
Experience Required: 2-5 years’ experience, including 2+ years private law practice in civil litigation, insurance or claims field
Experience Preferred: 2+ years claims experience
Functional Knowledge: Insurance claims, litigation and coverage (policyholder or insurer-side)
