Altus Partners, Inc. seeks a Senior Claims Counsel who will report to the General Counsel, serving as a trusted adviser to internal client service teams, and an advocate on behalf of Altus Corporate Risk clients.
The Sr. Claims Counsel position oversees the claims of our largest commercial clients, working with those clients, insurance carriers, and internal client service teams, to ensure every claim resolves as favorably as possible. Sr. Claims Counsel serves as an advocate for our clients in the claims process, proactively assessing the trajectory of each claim, identifying problems, and working promptly with insurers to resolve any issues. Responsibilities also include negotiating coverage positions, leading meetings with clients’ outside counsel, leading periodic claim reviews, monitoring third-party administrators’ claims handling, and analyzing loss trends. This individual will be expected to develop and foster relationships with clients, clients’ outside counsel, and executives within insurance carriers’ claims operations. Sr. Claims Counsel will also assist Altus’ growth efforts by participating in new business meetings and contributing to RFP responses. Finally, Sr. Claims Counsel will promote best-in-class internal claims processes and procedures.

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
Certificates, License Required: Active member of PA Bar and ability to obtain PA P&C insurance producer license
Experience Required: 5-10 years’ experience, including 2+ years private law practice in civil litigation, insurance or claims field
Experience Preferred: 2+ years claims or litigation management experience
Functional Knowledge: Insurance claims, litigation and coverage (policyholder or insurer-side)
