Our client, a nationally recognizable, fast-growing agricultural and food marketing company with 1500+ employees and over a billion dollars in revenues, seeks an experienced employment counsel to join its team in Sacramento. Candidates should have at least seven years’ experience with employment and labor matters, specifically California employment laws (required). Added commercial experience would be helpful (to provide overflow support on commercial agreements). Provide employment law counseling, advice, and day-to-day support for the organization-wide
Develop and implement employment policies surrounding hiring practices, internal investigations, terminations, leaves of absence, wage and hour, compensation, and benefits) and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Generate and implement training on HR and employment law topics
Investigate and respond to federal and state administrative complaints (including EEOC and local agency charges)
Manage litigation related to employment matters
Provide overflow support to commercial team with regard to commercial agreements
Draft and revise employment-related agreements (including offer letters, confidentiality and intellectual property agreements, and separation agreements),.
J.D. from a nationally recognized law school
Membership in at least one state bar (CA preferred)
7+ years of experience practicing California and federal employment law with a law firm and/or sophisticated in-house legal department
California employment law experience (required)
Experience drafting and reviewing commercial agreements
