Micron is seeking a Director to lead its Global Trade Compliance team. In an increasingly complex and dynamic international trade environment, Micron’s Director of International Trade Compliance will oversee a team of highly qualified import and export compliance professionals in the U.S., EU, and Asia, and will be responsible for the development and implementation of business-enabling strategies to navigate global tariff and trade restrictions. Micron’s Director of Global Trade Compliance also will be charged with crafting and administering tactical policies and processes to ensure that the day-to-day activities of Micron’s global manufacturing, technology and product development, and sales organizations are carried out in compliance with all applicable export and import laws and regulations.
Directly manage and oversee Micron’s international trade compliance team in the U.S., E.U., and Asia
Partner closely with Micron’s technology and product development teams, manufacturing teams, external customers, government agencies, suppliers, advisors, and outside counsel in the development and implementation of global trade compliance policies, systems, and practices
Oversee the development, oversight, and administration of trade compliance training for Micron team members and stakeholders
Provide strategic direction in the understanding, interpretation, and application of complex global export and import laws and regulations
Partner with Micron stakeholders to develop long-term strategies that facilitate business partnerships and sales in an evolving regulatory trade environment
Partner with internal and external partners to conduct routine global trade compliance risk assessments
Provide strategic reports to senior management and executives including metrics, risk analyses, trends, self-audits, and project updates
Develop measurable goals and drive key initiatives to completion
Partner closely with Micron’s Government Affairs team on positions of strategic importance to Micron and its global operations
Pursue and drive automation opportunities and leverage technologies whenever possible
Drive scalable business solutions while ensuring compliance with global trade regulations
Provide mentoring and oversee the professional development of Micron’s international trade compliance team
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; JD or equivalent strongly preferred
6+ years of trade compliance experience (preferably in the technology sector)
Expertise and hands on knowledge of US import and export laws and regulations
Familiarity and knowledge of other international import and export laws and regulations in the EU, PRC, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and India preferred
Experience with encryption export controls a plus
A track record of high ethical standards consistent with Micron’s values
General knowledge of and experience working with customs officials and export control governmental agencies
Experience with global trade management systems preferred
