Shift Information: Day Job
The Associate General Counsel provides legal assistance to the General Counsel and Hospital.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assists in Health Care regulatory issues and health care contracts.
Assists the General Counsel with employment law matters (ADA, FMLA, etc.) for HR, subpoenas and insurance matters, workers compensation and general contracts.
Reviews and revises corporate documents and Hospital policies and procedures as necessary.
Assists with ensuring the organization maintains compliance with all employment laws, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Other duties as required.
Education and Experience
Education: Juris Doctor Degree is required.
Certification: License to practice law is required; license to practice in the State of Ohio is preferred.
Healthcare and/or employment law experience in a law firm is required.
Years of relevant experience: 10 years is required.
Years of experience supervising: None.
In house experience is a plus.
Experience representing hospitals or health systems is desired.
Understanding of the major Federal and state laws and regulations for employment law, workers compensation and general litigation.
Experience drafting various HR related agreements and contracts, including transactions, employment and service agreements.
Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required
Additional preferred experience with: Managed Care, HIPPA fraud and abuse, Medicaid
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift, walk, stand, sit, bend, reach with hands and arms, climb, push/pull, use hands, and see, hear and speak.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
This position is performed in an office setting, five days a week with typical work hours being 8.00a through 5.00p.
Additional/irregular hours as needed.
