This position will support the Deputy General Counsel responsible for leading Tesla Legal Team’s employment and labor matters globally. This is a great opportunity to support and enable the transformation of Tesla’s HR team into an indispensable strategic business partner. You will work with your colleagues in HR to enable their success, and you will have the opportunity to work and influence every part of Tesla in a positive way. Position will be filled at the Counsel or Senior Counsel level, commensurate with the candidate’s experience.
As a member of Tesla’s fun and fast-paced Legal Department, this attorney will serve as an employment litigator supporting multiple business units. Key to this role will be to assess litigation risk, manage active single plaintiff litigation, negotiate resolution where appropriate, or manage the case through trial. Specific responsibilities will include:
Drafting responses to the EEOC and other government agencies.
Manage all aspects of litigation and discovery, including e-discovery, and coordination with company witnesses and record custodians.
Help build and implement scalable, world-class employment policies and programs that balance legal risk with business impact.
Work closely with the company’s leaders and HR teams to handle and support internal investigations, audits, pre-dispute conflicts, employment law claims, and trials/arbitrations.
Work closely with outside counsel to manage risk and ensure that internal partners receive effective, business-focused employment law support.

At least 5 years of employment and labor law experience at a highly respected law firm, the government and/or in-house corporate environment with emphasis on litigation.
J.D. required. Admission to the California Bar preferred.
Experienced in employment and labor alternative dispute resolution and litigation.
Client counseling experience preferred.
