Greystar Investment Transactions, LLC has retained Major, Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for a Legal Director, Investments to be located at its New York, NY office. Greystar is an equal opportunity employer.
Position Overview: This position will be responsible for providing transactional legal support to Greystar's investment management business in the United States, primarily focused on fund and other investment vehicle formation transactions. In addition, this position will be given exposure to all facets of Greystar's vertically integrated real estate business, including real estate acquisitions and dispositions, financings, development transactions, and property-level operational matters. This position will also be involved in establishing processes and procedures that mitigate risk and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements applicable to such business. This position will work with Greystar's Legal Global Practice Team in establishing and implementing best practices, processes, and policies within the legal and regulatory area to support the execution of the Company's global investment management strategy.
Company: Greystar is the preeminent, vertically integrated residential real estate company offering expertise in investment management, development and property management of rental housing properties - multifamily, corporate housing, student housing and senior living - globally. Affiliates of Greystar host robust investment management platforms dedicated to managing capital on behalf of a global network of institutional investors with approximately US$35.8 billion of assets under management and approximately US$12.9 billion of assets under development (as of 2Q19).
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
Experience: 5+ years of legal experience gained in a top-tier law firm, handling fund formation for private equity clients. Experience working on real estate investment vehicles strongly preferred. In-House experience is a plus but not required.
Travel: Regular travel to Greystar company headquarters located in Charleston, South Carolina, as well as periodic travel within other parts of the United States and Latin America.
Relocation: Although this is a national search, New York City trained attorneys are strongly preferred.
