Cargill, Incorporated (“Cargill”) has engaged Major, Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for an Attorney, Intellectual Property. Founded more than 150 years ago, Cargill is the largest private company in the United States with revenues of $114B in 2018. Cargill seeks a patent attorney to join its Intellectual Property Law Team at its headquarters office near the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul and provide legal counsel to the Company and its affiliates as an in-house lawyer and member of Cargill’s Law Department. This lawyer will work collaboratively with other in-house lawyers, legal professionals and business partners to provide worldwide legal counsel to Cargill across a variety of businesses as part of a multidisciplinary team. A primary focus of this role will be supporting the intellectual property activities for Cargill’s biotechnology efforts, including the drafting and prosecution of biotechnology patent applications.
The ideal candidate will be a licensed attorney with advanced degrees in biotechnology or a closely related field, and at least two (2) years of legal practice experience preparing and prosecuting biotechnology patent applications. At least five-plus (5+) years of experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications is preferred. Experience drafting patent applications in the chemical, biochemical, food technology, chemical engineering or biological arts is also desired. Agreement and/or opinion experience is also preferred.
