Sony Corporation of America (SCA), the US headquarters of Sony, has an excellent opportunity for a Business Affairs Attorney.
The SCA Legal Department provides comprehensive, proactive legal services to internal clients and coordinates closely with the legal teams of our affiliates. We work in a fast paced, hands-on, small team environment, where being both a self-starter and team player is critical.
Provide legal services to assigned internal client groups, as well as supporting SCA attorneys on other assignments
Provide legal support on all aspects of mergers, acquisitions, investments, joint ventures and other strategic transactions
Draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts
Support the corporate secretary function for various Sony entities
Perform other duties as assigned
Requires a J.D. with strong academic performance, with membership in good standing in at least one state (preferably New York)
Requires a minimum of 4 years of transactional experience working in a well-respected law firm or large corporation
A proven ability to master complex legal requirements, learn quickly, and interact easily with all levels of employees
Experience meeting tight deadlines while simultaneously prioritizing multiple projects is essential
Excellent written and oral communications skills, comprehensive interpersonal skills
A demonstrated ability to work very closely with the business side and on project teams, and to approach issues with a strategic focus
Experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts is required
Experience with contracts and issues in any of the areas of information technology, strategic sourcing, IT outsourcing or technology licensing is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
