Arthrex is actively searching for an Intellectual Property Counsel that will have responsibility for the IP of Arthrex’s Shoulder and Knee Arthroplasty groups and it’s Imaging and Resection groups. The successful candidate will build relationships with key customers and internal departments in order to build and maintain the patent and trademark portfolios, clear products under development and provide IP education for those groups. Excellent interpersonal, presentation and leadership skills along with eight plus years or more of related experience and must be a graduate of an accredited law school and a member in good standing of a state bar.The position does require travel. Main Objective: Responsible for a broad range of IP services in order to protect the organization's legal interests and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Draft and prosecute US patent applications.
Manage patent and trademark portfolios.
Management of outside counsel working on IP-related matters.
Supporting/lead role in the development of patentability, validity, infringement, freedom-to-practice opinions and patent searching.
Frequent interaction with the R&D and product development teams.
Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.

Education and Experience:
Registered US patent attorney, with a minimum of 8 years’ experience, well grounded in patent drafting and prosecution, preferably on a world-wide basis.
Specific experience in orthopedic or spine industries is desirable.
The position will have responsibility for the IP of Arthrex’s Shoulder and Knee Arthroplasty groups and its Imaging and Resection groups.
Must be a graduate of an accredited law school and a member in good standing of a state bar.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
Advanced writing, comprehensive reading, communication and research skills required.
Electronic based legal research experience required.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
MS Office, PC, printer, copiers and other miscellaneous office equipment
