How will you make an impact?
MGIC is currently seeking an exceptionally talented Corporate Counsel to join our in-house corporate team. Reporting to the VP - Assistant General Counsel, you will be responsible for providing corporate legal counsel to MGIC in the following areas:
Draft and negotiate documents in compliance with internal corporate policies, regulatory requirements, contractual obligations and the company’s risk appetite. Such contracts and agreements may include, without limitation:
Service, license and consulting agreements related to information technology;
Service and consulting agreements related to the company’s value-add suite of services;
Service and consulting agreements related to marketing initiatives; and
Confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements
Collaborate with Compliance team to research, review and advise on compliance and ethics matters as may be required or requested.
Conduct legal research into strategic or tactical issues which concern the company, including without limitation, regulatory compliance, product development or other matters affecting the mortgage insurance industry.
Provide advice and counsel regarding advertising, promotions and contests which may be offered from time-to-time.
Partner with company’s vendor management function, including development and maintenance of form documents.
Consult and provide legal oversight and advice on certain claims decisions to ensure compliance with the company’s contractual obligations.
Manage and oversee legal compliance with lobbying requirements and PAC solicitations for the company’s political action committee.
Oversee renewal of corporate insurance policies on an annual basis, managing costs and ensuring appropriateness of coverage and policy forms.
Manage and develop system related to contract management oversight
Do you have what it takes?
Education: Requires a Law degree and admission to the Bar in Wisconsin
Experience: 3-5 years of corporate legal experience. Must have experience in preparing and negotiating various forms of agreements. Experience in mortgage industry or insurance viewed favorably.
