Our long-standing client, an international publicly traded and stable company, has engaged us to identify an experienced MIDSTREAM/MARKETING SENIOR COUNSEL for its Houston office.
This position offers an opportunity to do a variety of quality work and assume significant responsibility and a leading role with a stable, premier corporation and in a collegial environment.
The attorney hired will work closely with business units and senior commercial management and report to the Assistant General Counsel.
There is a 9/80 work schedule allowing for every other Friday off of work.
Senior Counsel providing legal support to the business activities of the midstream and marketing segment of Company. The midstream and marketing segment purchases, markets, gathers, processes, transports and stores oil, condensate, NGL, natural gas, carbon dioxide (C02) and power. It also trades around its assets, including transportation and storage capacity. Additionally, the midstream and marketing segment invests in entities that conduct similar activities.
Reporting to the Associate General Counsel for the midstream and marketing segment of Company.
Provide legal support in connection with Company's crude oil and NGL marketing business, including support related to:(i) contract negotiation and interpretation of physical purchase and sale, exchange and buy/sell transactions (maritime, lease level and market hub); (ii) the transportation of product via pipeline, rail and vessel charters; and (iii) the development of midstream infrastructure.
Provide advice and support on regulatory issues arising in connection with the midstream and marketing business, including FERC and Texas Railroad Commission regulations.
Provide support to trade control and credit functions, including review and negotiation of guarantees and other credit support.
Provide legal support to other business units in the midstream and marketing segment.
Ideal candidate will have:
familiarity with commodities (gas, NGLS & crude)
familiarity with contracting and commodities
knowledge of FERC and CFTC
knowledge of midstream
Minimum five years of experience (either at a top-tier law firm or in-house).
Experience with marketing contracts, including general terms and conditions used in the domestic and international crude oil and NGL marketing and trading industries.
Experience with gathering, transportation, storage and other midstream issues in the crude oil and NGL sectors.
Experience with trade control processes and contract management systems.
Crude or oil marketing experience a strong plus.
Excellent academic credentials.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with senior commercial managers.
Stable work history.
