We have been retained by an industry leader in the Automotive Finance & Insurance Industry to identify suitable candidates for the role of General Counsel. This position will be located in Chicago, Illinois.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews the Company’s various products, services and licenses for legal compliance
Interprets laws, rulings, and regulations for the Company
Examine facts and legal criteria to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting claims
Acts as agent of corporation in various transactions
Represents Company in litigation and other legal proceedings
Advises Company concerning transactions of business, business strategy, corporate relations with the general public and internal affairs involving stockholders, directors and officers
Manages Legal/Compliance staff with responsibilities of planning, assigning and directing work, conducting performance reviews, disciplinary actions and resolving problems
Negotiates and reviews various business contracts and agreements
Minimum 10 years of experience, preferably within the automotive F&I Industry
Leadership skills and good judgment, the ability to think strategically from a business and legal perspective
