Better requires process discipline and simplification
In this role, you will provide business savvy legal support to technology procurement and real estate issues across the company. From your base in our global headquarters you will serve as a trusted partner regarding technology transactions, including in connection with the development of products, platforms, services and other strategic technology initiatives. You will also be the main point of contact for our global real estate transactions. You will be reporting to the Vice President and Head of Technology, IP, Vendor Oversight & Real Estate and this role presents the opportunity to work on a passionate and engage team and continue to develop and maintain a best in class program covering all the Company’s global regions.
Your responsibilities will include negotiating and drafting agreements related to WU’s global real estate needs, involving offices in 50+ countries. You will also collaborate with the business and other stakeholders in negotiating and drafting strategic technology vendor and outsourcing agreements as well as participate in designing, implementing and overseeing a global technology vendor management program. You will be responsible for research and analysis of the law on complex issues and help to develop organizational policies. You will also participate on internal consumer protection and risk committees as well as stay current and advise on changes to the regulatory and competitive environments globally.
For such a pivotal role, you’ll ideally have a law degree from ABA-accredited school with practice in at least one U.S. state, with 6-9+ years of experience, most of it in a corporate legal department of a multi-national corporation, with emphasis on real estate and/or technology procurement issues. Experience in dealing directly with business clients at all levels, and specifically counseling senior business clients on high stakes issues, is also helpful as well as experience in negotiating contracts in diverse cultures with a high degree of sophistication and creativity. You will need to be proactive and effective in business counseling, issue spotting, problem solving, negotiation and analytical skills and have an appreciation of business risk evaluation, assessment and mitigation, with a strong customer focus. You will also have the willingness to question the status quo and advocate for necessary change to improve internal processes. And have the ability to work on multiple projects with limited oversight delivering timely, solution-oriented advice, as well as have clear, logical and straightforward written and oral communication. You are someone who is obsessed with high-value and high-quality work product delivery and has knowledge of competitive offerings and activities and understand external business intelligence. You will have a proven focus on influencing, driving change, and delivering key capabilities to enhance competitive advantage and drive growth and have proven capabilities with product management disciplines, lean management techniques, and an agile approach to providing legal services.
