POSITION: Senior Attorney – Energy Operations & Construction

We are looking for an experienced Senior Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. As the Senior Attorney, you will play a key role in providing legal support for both the Utility and Renewables divisions of our billion-dollar company.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Effectively and strategically negotiate and document sophisticated, multi-party construction contracts and related agreements for energy and utility projects
Work closely with construction project managers, contract managers and administration team personnel.
Advocate strongly for company’s position in variety of situations while striking appropriate balance between limiting company’s risk and preserving the company’s valued relationships with customers, general contracts and subcontractors. Provide practical legal counsel within the context of a dynamic commercial enterprise.
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with, and provide practical legal advice to, project management and project execution team personnel regarding wide variety of construction project matters including contract compliance, change order documentation, project notices, regulatory compliance, labor and employment issues and subcontractor management.
Assist with design, implementation and continuous improvement of best practices construction contract risk review and contract formation processes and construction project execution processes.
Provide sophisticated analyses and recommendations to management teams regarding negotiation of contract terms; provide legal analysis and advice regarding resolution of disputes and claims.
Act as strong advocate for company in claims and litigation matters.
Select and manage retained outside counsel to obtain highest value for company.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
Bar admission in at least one state. Must have good standing in all states where admitted.
At least 15 years of experience in a combination of law firm and in-house legal department setting, with a focus in the energy, utility or construction industry.
Team orientated, highly collaborative both when leading a team and as an individual contributor
Demonstrated track record of effectively coaching and consulting internal clients as well as providing creative solutions
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well with diverse personalities and in a fast-paced dynamic environment
Strong attention to detail, process development and organizational management
Highly organized in working, thinking and prioritizing to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects
Motivated team player with flexible, can-do attitude
Creative problem solver with keen intellect
