AmWINS Group is looking for an Attorney to join our Corporate Legal Team in Charlotte.
Key Ares of Responsibilities:
Handle all labor and employment disputes that arise firm-wide and in multiple jurisdictions, including EEOC complaints, wage and hour disputes, FMLA/ADA matters and wrongful termination
Review and advise with respect to restrictive covenants of potential new hires
Assist with the periodic review and update of onboarding documents for new employees, including offer letters, confidentiality agreements, employment agreements, etc.
Assist with the periodic review of employee benefit plan documents and other benefit contracts as needed
Advise HR team on matters relating to new hires, transfers and terminations
Participate in the review and maintenance of the company’s Employment Policies and other related documents
Advise HR team of new laws, pending legislation or other compliance matters as they arise
Efficiently manage outside counsel
Consult with general counsel on various other legal issues as they arise.
Extremely detail oriented and organized. Must be comfortable working on projects that require an extremely high level of organization, accuracy and attention to detail. Exemplary time management skills are critical for this role.
Legal research. Must be competent in performing legal research as necessary.
Strong Business Acumen. Ability to learn, understand and provide insight on significant business issues.
Sound Judgement. Ability to function as an effective counselor and confidant, comfortable working closely with senior business leaders.

Team oriented / strong interpersonal skills. Must be comfortable working in dynamic and diverse teams, able to handle challenging personalities and situations with a positive attitude.
Candidate must have a juris doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina
3-5 years’ experience in dealing with labor and employment matters, preferably in a law firm setting
Must have multi-jurisdictional experience (State of California and Texas are strongly preferred)
Understanding of the insurance industry (a plus but not required)
Must have excellent analytical and communication skills and be willing to learn new areas of law (employee benefits; insurance regulatory; privacy and data breach; litigation; etc.)
Excellent communication skills
Ability to analyze situations and make practical recommendations quickly
