AssuredPartners seeks an Associate Counsel – Employment to join its growing legal department. AP’s legal team serves a dynamic business that has skyrocketed from a start-up in 2011 to a $1.2 billion company in 2019. With more than 6,000 employees spread across the United States and a clear path for continued rapid growth, AP needs a skilled employment lawyer with a keen business mind to help fuel its continued success. This role will sit at AP’s corporate headquarters in Lake Mary, Florida and report to the Managing Counsel - Employment.

• Provide advice and counsel on a broad range of employment matters on a national scale • Strategic litigation management (traditional employment and restrictive covenant cases) • Draft a wide range of employment-related documents (e.g., employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, severance agreements, etc.) • Support HR teams in development and implementation of employment policies • Work on cross-functional projects with employment law impact • Identify areas of legal need or exposure and develop and execute plans to address • Provide training on key employment law issues • Collaborate with other members of legal team on employment issues
• Developed sense of legal and business judgment obtained via at least three years of employment law experience (litigation and consulting experience required) • Top-flight communication skills, both oral and written • Curiosity about business generally and a willingness to learn the insurance industry • A humble, customer service-oriented mindset • Ability to build relationships of trust and confidence at all levels of the company • Knowledge of restrictive covenant law and how to use it to protect business assets • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex employee relations matters • Fluency with key employment laws, policies & developing trends • Willingness to travel as needed (10 to 15%) • Membership in good standing of a state bar
