We are looking for a business minded person who can provide business leaders with practical and effective legal guidance with a can-do attitude. This person will deal with a spectrum of legal issues related to management and daily operations of American Commercial Barge Line LLC and its affiliates focusing primarily in the areas of corporate law and contracts. Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills are required. Must have the ability to manage large projects and drive them to completion. Must be a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
Prepare, review and negotiate a variety of contracts to support all aspects of the business, including agreements with customers, suppliers and service providers
Work independently and with outside counsel on various real estate matters
Assist general counsel and other in-house counsel in M&A transactions and due diligence projects
Advise the company and senior management on a broad range of legal issues and federal and state regulatory and compliance matters, including identifying areas of risk and making suggestions for improvement
Keep informed of industry-specific trends and regulations and ensure that appropriate risk management strategies are in place including updating contract terms
Supervise paralegal on a variety of legal matters
Prepare and present company training on relevant legal topics
Perform a variety of other duties
Applies safety policies to improve practices. Determines and explains the potential risks of injury to others and/or liability to the company as a result of changes in programs or processes.
Listens and anticipates customer needs and aligns ACBL processes to accommodate them. Look for new business opportunities. Builds a team approach to have programs and processes that improve customer satisfaction. Learns and understands the issues and needs impacting the customer's business.

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school is required.
