Parker + Lynch is assisting an exciting, non-profit organization in recruiting a General Counsel for its Fairfield County location. The ideal candidate will have at least 6+ years in-house experience or in advising corporate clients. This will be a highly visible position with the opportunity to interact with executives and contribute directly to the success of the organization.
Provide expert and strategic legal advice to the organization regarding a spectrum of topics, including corporate governance, commercial matters, intellectual property, regulatory compliance.
Partner with key leadership to troubleshoot concerns as they arise and proactively shape policy, process, and best practices.
Respond to all legal inquiries and claims directed at the organization.
Will act as a strong advocate for policies and activities that accomplish the mission of the organization.
Represent the organization, or oversee outside counsel, in legal matters.
Ensure compliance with local zoning regulations, permits and reporting requirements.
Work with internal human resource personnel to identify and address potential employer issues and devise strategies to ensure a safe and compliant working environment while minimizing risks to the organization.
Draft, review, negotiate and approve all legal documents including but not limited to vendor contracts, contracts with external partners and all contracts related to program events.
Keep abreast of Federal or State legislative changes that may affect the organization’s operations and update operational policy, as required.
Fundraising compliance and tax experience preferred.
J.D. degree and member in good standing of a US state bar. Candidates that are not members of the Connecticut State Bar will apply for and receive in-house counsel status within three months of the start of their tenure.
